‘Tales from the Frontline – the UTMB’ at Profeet, London, 25 Sept 2013

London, 25 September 2013

There is nothing more wonderful than sharing your tales about a race that you loved.  And that’s exactly what I got to do with Danny Kendall when we were invited by sports footware and orthotic specialists, Profeet, to join fellow ultra runner Gary Dalton in talking about our experience of this year’s 2013 Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc – a 168km race around the Tour of Mont Blanc.

Profeet Invite to Tales of the Frontline

The evening kicked off with an 8km run down the Thames Towpath, where we got to test out the new Scott T2 Kinabulu trainers.  We then went back to the store to present our individual experiences of the race.

Because Danny and I have raced several times this year (together in the Marathon des Sables and the Race to the Stones), we decided to run the UTMB together – at least until I started to suffer with Achilles issues and let him crack on.  We therefore presented together, drawing on the highs and lows that kept us in the race.

Danny finished 121st in 30hrs15 and I eventually finished a bit behind him in 31hrs34 and in 173rd place.

You can read more about my experience of the UTMB as well as watch a short video in my Telegraph Men column or here in my portfolio.
