Good For Age place in 2014 Virgin Money London Marathon
The London Marathon is one of those races that is too good not to enter – especially when it’s on your doorstep. Having done the race 5 times, 4 of those occasions on a Good For Age place, I’ve felt compelled to always be around for it. Which is also annoying, because there are some great marathons happening around the same time – Boston Marathon and Brighton Marathon (a little closer to home).
So, having just received confirmation that I’ve gained a Good For Age spot for next year, based on my 2013 London Marathon time of 2.51, I’ve agreed with my girlfriend that I’ll pace her to a sub 3.15 finish. She initially wanted to go sub 3.30, but I felt she’s much better than that. To which she replied: ‘I’ve been trying to go sub 3.30 for 38 marathons – I know what my limits are!’.
However, I told her that she’d never trained for one nor had me pacing her, so anything is possible! Hopefully we’ll still be speaking at the end of the race!
